West Ham should reignite interest in Flint as manager fails to refuse sale

sbobetmember West Ham United are expected to add to their squad in the upcoming January transfer window.

Other than reigniting West Ham United's Premier League form, David Moyes will have been busy drawing out potential targets for the January transfer window since joining the club in November.

The Hammers are likely to be in the market for a new central midfielder and perhaps a striker, as Moyes looks to steer clear of the Premier League relegation zone. But it could be argued that the club need a centre-back, most of all.

James Collins is in the final months of his contract and it seems unlikely that the 34-year-old will be offered a new deal, while the form and availability of Jose Fonte has left a lot to be desired.

That leaves just Winston Reid, Angelo Ogbonna and Declan Rice. The latter is still learning the ropes at 18, while the more experienced duo are considered slightly injury prone and certainly need cover.

Moyes has seven used a three-man defence on occasion since joining the club, including Tuesday night's 1-0 Carabao Cup loss to Arsenal. It all points to adding a new centre-back in January.sbobetmember

It should see the Hammers reignite their interest in Bristol City defender Aden Flint, after the Bristol Post quoted Robins manager Lee Johnson as saying that he is unsure of 6ft 5in powerhouse's future.

"I don't know, is the honest answer," Johnson said, when asked if Flint will remain at Ashton Gate beyond January. "It's a crazy world of football now. Aden's been playing very, very well."

Back in the summer, the Sun claimed West Ham were interested in signing the 28-year-old captain, who has remarkably continued his reputation as a goalscoring defender with another six strikes this season in 18 Championship games.

Reigniting that interest is key to both West Ham's attacking resources, and obviously strengthening their defence. Flint would give the Hammers and Moyes all the tools they need to avoid the drop come May 2018.
